Why Do We Do Things Like This?!
We’re beginning to feel that we’re really tired so please excuse us if the quality of the daily updates declines or if we wander from the subject of pure daily reports and get more “philosophical” at times - we have so much time to THINK that we simply need to share some of these thoughts with someone.
The Bergans Baikal 2010 Expedition - Goodbye, Olchon!
As the first thing in the morning, we called a brief meeting. First we needed to discuss requests from muscles from all over our bodies for a day off which they would spend in a sleeping bag doing nothing.
Only Half of the Distance to Go!
Yesterday, I disconnected my iPod by mistake right when it was synchronizing - instead of a new set of music, an error message occurred on the display and I was told to reset the iPod. I didn’t have energy to do that so I spent a quiet day today.
Baikal 2010 - Hey Ice, You Rock! :-)
It’s been two days since when I begun to feel a pain in my left shin. It’d been only getting worse since then and yesterday it was really bad - after I took my pants off in the evening I could see that it was badly swollen.
The Bergans Baikal 2010 - Island of Olchon on the Horizon!
We had a very good day today even though it was very very cold in the morning. I didn’t check the thermometer then but I know for sure that it was freezing cold. I even got light frostbites on my fingers from the morning.
Baikal 2010 - Cold and Wind = Tough Day
FI want to touch upon a bit the temperatures we have here as there were some questions about it in the comments (at the Czech version). We’re not a weather station :-) so we don’t measure the temperatures throughout the whole day.
Another Day in Paradise (or is it Hell :)
First, I need to explain something to you - to the English speaking readers of our blog. Yesterday, we set a little guessing competition in the Czech version of the website - in short I gave the article a nonsensical title and let the readers guess what it was supposed to mean.
A Nice Day after an Awful Night
Today’s message won’t be about today as it went more or less without any problems. I’d rather tell you about yesterday’s night - we’ve never ever seen anything like that - it weren’t just heavy winds, it was like a hurricane!
The Baikal 2010 Expedition - A Hard Day
We try to walk as many miles as possible every day so we walk till dark - every minute we walk, we’re closer to the other side of Baikal. ”Oh no...not again...,” was my first thought right after I woke up. I can see and hear as well that another fierce storm is shaking violently with our tent.
Whooo, We Made the First 100 km!
And it was not the only “first-thing” we had today. Those 100 km (62 miles) are of course of the highest importance for us as we think of it as of an important milestone - it usually goes faster once you cross the first round number :-)
