With just over a month before the gates open, Prowinter 2010 has already confirmed the participation of all the major brands in the represented segments.
Ski manufacturers will be showcasing revolutionary new products and technical solutions that go against the grain. The general trend, influenced by the demands of an increasingly sophisticated market, is for modern interpretations of the all-mountain carving ski, with average widths of between 72 and 80 mm and beyond. This equipment guarantees balance, stability, edge hold and easy use thanks to geometries typical (until now) of freeride models.
Winter sports goods are increasingly manufactured using natural materials. Some of the skis and snowboards on show at Prowinter 2010 are made from fast-growing bamboo, wood sourced from forests near to the production sites or recycled material. Resins, glues and other potentially toxic substances are used more and more sparingly on production lines.
In the domain of boots, among the innovations on show we will be able to admire air insulation systems which guarantee thermal sealing and a customised fit, new and ultra-light aluminium gloves, boot liners and fully adaptable shells, as well as new-generation mechanisms that ensure greater freedom of movement when walking uphill or a more comfortable advanced foot position. Even clothing manufactured in a more sustainable way is no longer the exception and now appeals to the new eco-aware lifestyles of the most sophisticated end consumers.
The world’s leading manufacturers and distributors of machines for the preparation, repair and preservation of skis, snowboards and boots will be offering visitors (dealers, owners and workshop managers, professional skiers, manufacturers and engineers) precise demonstrations of the latest machinery, both top-of-the-range and budget, all set up and fully operational. The offering will be completed by consumables, ski wax, equipment, racks, storage systems and rental management software and hardware systems. Nevertheless, the most significant trend in the rental market involves the aesthetic revamping of ski services, whose image is increasingly perceived as a key element. In line with this philosophy, the companies present at “Prowinter 2010” will propose a vast range of complementary items for workshops, products designed to renovate workspaces and to seduce a discerning young consumer. Through a design process which is more than ever inspired by modernity, the use of natural materials, custom lighting systems and rationalised storage structures, even sports equipment rental businesses are benefiting from the effects of a more refined and biodegradable decor.
So, innovation, style and revolutionary developments in the sector are increasingly influenced by the ecology and eco-sustainability. Companies are stepping up their efforts to protect the environment, not only as regards the end products themselves but also in terms of transportation, energy consumption, use of raw materials and waste management. These are highly topical and relevant issues which Fiera Bolzano has always recognised, appreciated and promoted. Just as Prowinter, during its tenth edition, is committed to supporting a sector which is demonstrating that it has embarked on a process of sustainable development.
